Aloe Vera Plant Benefits
The aloe vera plant has been known to provide natural health benefits for thousands of years. The plant was always used as a natural remedy and some even believed that by placing an aloe vera plant on their doors it would protect them from evil, a belief that is still used by many today.
The aloe vera plant grows in different sizes, the usually look like large pointy cactuses but in a rose form. The leaves are long and pointy at the end. The gel is obtained by cutting the leaf and peeling off the plants skin. The aloe vera plant contains many health benefits for humans, both externally and internally.
Externally the aloe vera plant gel is used to heal burns or irritations such as poisin ivy and it is also a natural moisturizer for our skin as well as an acne treatment.
Internally the aloe vera plant can be used to kill bacteria, a natural laxative and it has been known to effectively treat stomach ulcers, heartburn and improves our immune system.
If you decide to use the aloe vera plant for treatment make sure to take out any impurities the plant has naturally. Many are unaware of this since most aloe vera products already come prepared for direct use.
If you have a healthy aloe vera plant, cut one leaf off, beginning with the thickest. Wash the leaf and careful cut it into several pieces. In a container let the cut up pieces soak in water for at least one day. The next day you will notice the color of the water has changed to red or pink color. This is the impurities that must be eliminated. Throw out the colored water and once again soak the aloe vera plant in water to make sure you have eliminated all of the impurities.
Now the plant is ready for use, make sure you keep it slightly refrigerated or it can dry out. The gel inside the aloe vera plant is what is used to provide health benefits. Peel off the green skin of the leaf to reveal the gel; you can use a spoon to scoop out the gel.
This gel can be either placed on your skin (face or body) or you can ingest it buy eating the gel, placing a bit of brown sugar on it makes it easier to consume, since the aloe vera plant isn't a pleasurable flavor for many.
